Chris’s fine art has grown an international collector base, with past gallery exhibitions in Palm Springs, Seattle, Australia and Amsterdam. Chris’s story-driven fine art has attracted custom art installations for high-end clients such as Southern California’s highly successful sustainable restaurant franchise Tender Greens for their Pasadena (2011) and Westwood (2016) locations and Caesars Entertainment for their massive Linq High Roller project, which features 7 large-format original print murals (the largest measuring 9′ h x 32’w) that create a vibrantly colorful backdrop for the ultra-modern entry complex to the world’s largest observation wheel.
Chris’s fine art reflects a wide range of literary and visual influences, from classic Victorian/Edwardian-era science fiction to 1960’s & 70’s illustration and modern design. Laced throughout with a whimsical touch and innocent humanity, Chris’s art explores characters in rich fantastical settings seemingly caught in subtle “moments” that symbolically tell tales of loneliness, reflection, fear hope and desire.
Chris’s spent several years writing/performing with Der Screamin’ Lederhosen, who penned the Ren & Stimpy show title themes as well as various background music throughout the series. His original score for his 2007 pilot for Nickelodeon The Modifyers, added an extra dimension to the cult favorite cartoon. In 2012 Chris joined Elliot Easton (The Cars), Nick Walusko (Brian Wilson, Wondermints) and multi-instrumentalist Todd Jaeger as bassist/art director for Elliot Easton’s Tiki Gods which combined the aesthetics of Exotica, 60’s sci-fi themes, and “Space Tiki” musical genres. The bands debut album is available on Amazon, and features one original composition by Chris. His current group Fono66 continues his collaboration with Walusko and Jaeger for a primitive/modern/pop take on the Exotica genre that will soon include live animated video.
Chris’s picture book entitled “Affirmations for Pessimists” (2013) features over 50 captioned illustrations and is available here at the reccardi.com store and Lulu.com. Prints of each illustration are also available for purchase. Chris currently resides in Pasadena, CA with his extraordinarily talented wife Lynne Naylor.
